CICOA Holiday Art Contest Winner Announced

CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions recently announced the winner of its inaugural Holiday Art Contest which was open to anyone participating in the CICOA Meals & More lunch program at neighborhood meal sites throughout Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties.

ica holiday art 3A total of 41 entries were received on the theme “Winter in Indiana” and were judged on originality, composition and craftsmanship by members of CICOA’s Operating and Foundation boards and staff.

First place winner Marty Anderson, Hendricks County Senior Services, received $100 and printed copies of his winning card to share with family and friends.

Glasses Through the Ages: Museum of Vision Provides Unique "View"

The invention of eyeglasses, also called "spectacles" by earlier generations, is believed to have occurred between 1286 and 1289. From the beginning the intent of glasses has been to improve eyesight, but their design has not always been practical.

The Museum of Vision, an educational program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO), has worked to preserve and promote ophthalmic heritage and create collections of artifacts that mark the the historical progression of glasses, eye surgery, eye diseases and more.
