In-Home Services

Care Managers from CICOA assess personal care needs during at-home visits and coordinate needed services into a care plan. Family members and other caregivers participate in this planning whenever possible.

Once a plan is developed, the Care Manager arranges for the needed services to be delivered. These services may include such things as adult day services, homemaker, respite care, attendant care, home health aide, home-delivered meals and home modifications.

CICOA's Care Managers provide continuous support, as they monitor the needs and progress of the client and adjust the care plan as needs change.

CICOA's Care Managers are professionals, with degrees in social work, psychology, sociology, gerontology or nursing.

Friendly Visitors:  Friendly visitors are volunteers who offer companionship and encouragement to seniors in their home or in health care facilities. Sometimes they are able to help with errands and practical assistance. Many churches also have visiting programs.

Nutrition:  CICOA's Nutrition Services provides hearty, wholesome meals to homebound individuals and neighborhood centers throughout Central Indiana. All of our meals meet 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) of nutrition for older adults. Meals are available to seniors regardless of income level or ability to pay, but contributions are always welcome.

Congregate Meals:  CICOA serves lunch at 34 neighborhood sites where older adults can enjoy a hot, nutritious meal and socialize with others. To be served you must be at least 60 years of age, the spouse of someone 60 years of age, or you must be living in a housing unit where a lunch is served.  The program serves Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, and Shelby Counties.

Meals on Wheels:  Persons 60 years of age or older who are homebound and unable to shop for or prepare meals may be eligible for a home-delivered meal. In some cases, two meals may be delivered daily with the extra meal either frozen or a "brown bag." Special dietary restrictions such as low cholesterol, diabetic and low salt are followed.
